The Missouri Public Service Commission (PSC) is seeking an attorney for the position of Regulatory Law Judge in our Jefferson City office. This is a quasi-judicial, administrative law judge position that requires the ability to write orders and to preside over adversarial hearings.

We ensure that Missourians receive safe and reliable utility services at just, reasonable and affordable rates. The Adjudication department has a staff of full-time regulatory law judges that are utilized to meet the procedural demands of the large volume of contested cases and other administrative proceedings filed with the Commission.
What you’ll do:
Write orders and preside over adversarial hearings.
Written orders will range from routine procedural orders and noncontested final orders, to more complex orders that must be supported by competent and substantial evidence based on the evidentiary hearing record.
Independently control a docket of cases from the Electric, Gas, Water, Sewer, and Steam industries.
Review extensive pleadings, written expert testimony, briefs, and other case-related documents in the preparation of final Commission orders.
Work effectively with other judges, chief judge, general counsel’s office staff and for a five-member Commission.
Provide sound legal analysis and well-drafted documents under sometimes demanding deadlines.
Position may require some in-state travel.
