Houston – Environmental Associate

Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP seeks an attorney to join its highly ranked nationally recognized Environmental Law practice group as a full-time, partnership-track associate in our Houston, TX office. Qualified applicants should have at least one to three years (class of 2023 – class of 2021) of experience with environmental, natural resource, climate change or sustainability issues in the context of compliance counseling, obtaining permits and other regulatory authorizations, agency rulemaking, enforcement defense or litigation. The ideal candidate has experience or interest in natural resource and air quality regulation, climate change mitigation, environmental justice, and environmental, social, and corporate governance. The environmental team prides itself in forming diverse teams with a wide array of personal and professional attributes. We value collaboration and a team-based approach. The successful applicant will get to work on precedent setting legal matters with a team that values direct client contact, mentoring and training. As a member of the environmental team, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on interesting, long-term projects with established clients. A successful candidate is dedicated to the practice of environmental law, has self-motivation, strong intellectual curiosity, good judgment, responsiveness, perseverance, and excellent written and oral communication skills. This position can be filled in our DC or Houston office. Active membership in the DC or Texas bar is preferred and, in any event, required within one year of joining the firm.
