The Staff Attorney, Lawyers Network will report directly to the Special Counsel, Lawyers Network. The Staff Attorney will work closely with other members of the Lawyers Network team, as well as with other Center staff, including Center litigators, Pro Bono team and the Center’s Communications Department.
This position will be based in either Washington, DC or New York City.
The Staff Attorney, Lawyers Network will play an integral role in the Center’s newest program within the US Program team. The Staff Attorney for Lawyers Network main responsibilities will include:
Engage in outreach and partner actively and as appropriate with national, state and local bar associations;
Maintain proactive relationships with bar association leaders and members;
Represent the Center at association networking events, conferences, and meetings;
Develop and execute CLE programs or other programming on reproductive rights in conjunction with bar association partners;
Develop articles for national, state and local bar association publications;
Participate actively in working with national, state and local bar associations to develop association resolutions and legislative priorities around reproductive rights;
As appropriate, assist bar associations with filing amicus briefs;
Maintain relationships and ensure coordination with other Center departments; and,
Assume additional duties as assigned.
Strong commitment to the Center’s mission, purpose and mission;
3+ years post-law school experience;
Must be comfortable with, and available to, travel on a regular basis in the U.S.;
Must have an understanding of litigation and/or court strategy;
Familiarity with constitutional law and/or reproductive rights law preferred;
Experience with bar associations preferred;
Proven ability to build strategic alliances;
Strong public speaking skills and experience; and,
Self-motivated and have strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
